Raytheon
Since joining the company in January 2018 I have attempted to refine workflows and optimise our production quality without sacrificing budget or time. As it stood, the post-production process of compositing with the kit we had was not optimal - the greenscreen was paper - and creased - the lighting was meant for flash photography and the video camera was not only old, but terrible for noise with the ISO required to compensate for the poor lighting. It was a mess. However, in the 2.5 years of working here I have made my case, utilising data gathered and a SixSigma approach to refine this!
First up, we sourced a fabric greenscreen (torte), from an old studio, invested in a 4k Sony Camera and Aperture Spotlights alongside some lovely Kinos. Flicking from halogen to LED workflow not only produced brighter, more consistetly spread light but also a much purer, whiter light. All of this combined meant that we could push our production capabilities. Utilising our livestream technology I created a series of digital backdrops and composited them in real-time against our actor, moving lights around as required for the optimal composition that I could see in real time. The post-production has essentially become a one-click composite, saving up around 40% on post production time - I'd call that a win :).
